Welcome! My name is Mrs. Doran and I am so excited to be your teacher this year! This web page is a place for you to access information and resources for our 6th Grade Social Studies class.
I will use 5 online locations to make information, resources, and assignments available to students and families.
- Mrs. Doran’s Webpage – please take a few minutes to explore this page and see what is available here.
- Clever – students will use Clever to access TCI (our Social Studies curriculum for the year). Clever is also a launch point for students to access Microsoft Office 365 (student Outlook email, Teams, Word, etc.), curriculum resources, PowerSchool, and so much more! Please take time to explore Clever and see what is available there.
- Microsoft Teams– posted here will be the weekly assignment schedule, any instructional videos, assignment directions and resources, and any announcement messages. Students should use the Teams Chat to ask me questions or seek assistance.
- TCI– the majority of student work will be handed in here. This site also includes the online textbook and many different tools that students will be asked to use throughout the year.
- PowerSchool– assignment title and due date, score of graded assignments, overall class letter grade.

Social Studies
Our Social Studies curriculum focuses on the geography, history, and cultures of the Western Hemisphere.
Materials Needed: Composition book, pencil, computer mouse, headphones
Students access TCI, the social studies text, online through Clever on their classroom laptops and will receive instructions on how to access the online text and daily classwork. Students need a pencil and composition book for written work. Composition books stay in the classroom.
Grading: 90-100 = A, 80-89 = B, 70-79 = C, 60-69 = D, <60 = F
Each unit has preview activities, key vocabulary, and practice activities. I provide regular check-ins and feedback to monitor student progress. Practice scores fall under the “Classwork” category.
At the end of the unit, students complete a project or assessment to show what they learned. These scores fall under the “Assessments” category.
Redo
Students may redo classroom assignments. Students may redo assessment if they score lower than 80%. Students have one week to redo and must let me know immediately if they are interested in doing so.
Late Work
Late work is accepted until the end of the unit assessment.
Communication
A weekly agenda is posted to my teacher page at ADoran | Helena Public Schools Staff
Grades are updated on PowerSchool. If parents do not have a username and password, you may contact the office at 324-1000.

6th Grade Science
Welcome! This web page is a place for you to access information and resources for your 6th Grade Science class. This year you will work as scientists and engineers to answer scientific questions and solve real-world problems. I am honored to be your teacher and I hope you have a great year at Helena Middle School.

- Clever – students must use Clever to access Amplify which is our science curriculum. Clever also is a launch point for students to access Microsoft Office 365 (student Outlook email, Teams, Word, etc), curriculum resources, PowerSchool, and so much more! Please take time to explore Clever and see what is available there.
- Microsoft Teams– Some assignments will be handed in through Teams. Students should use the Teams Chat to ask me questions, notify me of turned in late work, or seek assistance.
- Amplify– Students are able to see in Amplify what tasks are assigned to them; most of these will be completed in class with occasional homework. About half of classwork will be handed in through Amplify and the other half will be on paper. - PowerSchool– scores of graded assignments, missing work, and overall class percent & letter grade are visible here. I will update grades in PowerSchool once a week.
