Kelly Connolly
What a week! It’s Wednesday and only now am I getting this out to you. I was in a meeting yesterday (very productive assessment meeting, excited!) and am back today, getting caught up on all I missed as well as getting ready for the weekend already! We have a 1/2 day tomorrow and no school Friday.
Homework
I wanted to take this opportunity to remind families of our weekly homework. Students have time in class to complete math homework. I take this time to reinforce and reteach skills. It helps me to know the questions they have. I also do not grade math homework as it is practice for the skill they are learning. There are supposed to mistakes and ask questions as they learn new things. I use the information gathered on their homework to determine which students need a quick review and which students are solid in the skill. And of course practicing spelling words and reading every night is necessary in order to become stronger readers.
Growth Mindset
We are talking about growth mindset in class and I thought I would share this with you all.
Our Photos
Below is a link to a google drive folder with photos of our class. I’ll continue to add to this folder throughout the year.

BUG- Bringing Up Grades
Don’t forget to talk to your students about their Second Quarter Goal!
Weather
Please make sure your student is dressed for the weather. Unless it’s below zero they go outside to recess. No such thing as bad weather, or only bad clothes. If your kiddo needs boots, hats, coats, just let me know and I can ask Angel Fund.
Background Checks
All volunteers, including chaperones, need background checks through the district. You can do this at the Mae Butler building on Rodney- Tuesdays and Thursdays ALL DAY (7:30am to 4pm). This has to be done every (3) years, so if you had one last year, you are all set for two more years.
Snacks
Don’t forget to send snacks with your students!
Headphones
Please send in some headphones for your students, we use them often.
Spelling City
Students may use this site to practice words or checkout the list if they don’t have their planner.

Math 24
Math 24 is a fun game that gets students working with math facts in a different way. Students have to use addition/subtraction/multiplication/division to get “24” as the answer. It’s fun and VERY challenging. Some students have asked for info on where to find the game for home. I have included an Amazon link below for anyone interested.
