Duane Zehr

Duane Zehr came to Capital High School in the fall of 2009 after having taught for eleven years in Wyoming and Montana. Duane received his Bachelorā€™s of Music Education Degree from Indiana University where he studied trumpet with Edmund Cord. He then moved West to begin his teaching career.

In 2007 Duane was a Northwestern University Summer Music Fellow which led to a return to the Midwest for a Masterā€™s of Music Education Degree from Northwestern University in 2009. He then returned to the classroom with the Capital High School Bands.

Outside of school Duane has remained active as a trumpet player performing with a variety of orchestras, jazz ensembles, and community bands. He was also a founding member of the South Hills Brass Quintet.

Duane lives in Helena with his wife, Dawn, and son, Christian.
