Duane Zehr

Duane Zehr came to Capital High School in the fall of 2009 after having taught for eleven years in Wyoming and Montana. Duane received his Bachelor’s of Music Education Degree from Indiana University where he studied trumpet with Edmund Cord. He then moved West to begin his teaching career.

In 2007 Duane was a Northwestern University Summer Music Fellow which led to a return to the Midwest for a Master’s of Music Education Degree from Northwestern University in 2009. He then returned to the classroom with the Capital High School Bands.

Outside of school Duane has remained active as a trumpet player performing with a variety of orchestras, jazz ensembles, and community bands. He was also a founding member of the South Hills Brass Quintet.

Duane lives in Helena with his wife, Dawn, and son, Christian.
