Gail McMahon

Welcome to Physical Education! I am the P.E. teacher at Four Georgians Elementary School for all classes Kindergarten through 5th grade. I have a sincere passion for physical activity and am so grateful to have the opportunity to share that with your children. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree from Eastern Oregon University and a Master of Education Degree in Curriculum and Assessment from Montana State University.

I grew up in North Dakota, but now consider Montana my home having been here for over 25 years. I love the mountains and all the outdoor activities Montana has to offer. My two daughters both attended Four Georgians school so it feels like home teaching here.

The elementary Physical Education curriculum is a skill and activity based program. The students will be introduced to a variety of developmentally appropriate skills such as locomotive, rhythmic, and balancing movements; along with throwing, catching, dribbling, kicking, volleying, and striking. In addition, the activities will include the discussion of muscles and bones, nutrition, and the importance of safety.

Four Georgians Learners are expected to be Respectful (to themselves, each other, and the equipment), Responsible (have their gym shoes on, bring a note if unable to participate), Safe (follow all activity rules), and Kind (to all).

If your child is unable to participate in P.E., please send a note (physician and/or parent) with your student to give to me. Informing me of limitations due to injury or illness helps keep students safe in the gym.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time during the school year with questions, concerns, or ideas. I can be reached by email at gmcmahon@helenaschools.org or by phone at 324-1294.

I look forward to a healthy, happy, active school year with your student!
