Welcome to Chemistry 1 and AP Chemistry!
This is my 11th year at Helena High School and my 19th year teaching high school science. At HHS, I have taught Chemistry 1, Biology 1, and AP Chemistry. I have also taught at North Kitsap High School, Sultan High School, ExplorationWorks, and STARBASE.
When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy all the outdoor activities Montana has to offer with my husband of 31 years. My two children, Jake and Katie, graduated from Helena High School in 2016 and 2017. I am a graduate of South Whidbey High School, the University of Washington (B.S. in Zoology), and Old Dominion University (M.S. in Secondary Education).
I am looking forward to a fantastic year!
Chemistry 1
Agendas and daily assignments will be posted in Teams.
Supplies needed:
- pens and pencils
- colored pencils
- spiral notebook
- folder to keep classwork organized
- index cards
- scientific calculator with exponent capability
- computer for occasional online classwork
- non-latex gloves for labs (can be shared with another student)
- splash goggles for labs (can be purchased for $3 or use a school pair)
AP Chemistry
We will be following the nine units as suggested by the AP College Board. https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/courses/ap-chemistry/course
We will be using Teams and AP Classroom this year. AP Classroom can be found here.
The AP Exam is Thursday, May 6th, 2027 at 12:00 pm. The exam is recommended but not required.
