We are off to a great start here at HMS and our students have adjusted beautifully to our new normal.  The adjustment has been challenging at times for educators as our brains and patterns are more rigid, but we are getting there and starting to hit our stride.  Your children, on the other hand, have been showing just how resilient and flexible they are as we find our rhythm.  Things are starting to feel almost normal!

Please check this page weekly for updates from our English class.  Visit the link below to see our agenda for the week.

Most of our students finished their iReady testing last week.  This was a diagnostic test that will help teachers fine-tune their instruction to make sure we are meeting the individual needs of each student.  This test WAS NOT GRADED and does not impact your child’s grade.  The make-up window for iReady testing will be this Monday and Tuesday (September 21st and 22nd) for those students who were absent or did not finish.  All tests will need to be completed at home.  Here are the instructions:

  1. Log in to CLEVER
  2. Find the iReady app (looks like a tri-colored cube).
  3. Indicate that it is NOT being taken at school when promted.
  4. Choose which test needs to be completed (reading or math) and begin!  There will be a tutorial about how the test works that students need to watch and do before they can actually begin the assessment.

Also, each student at HMS qualifies for free breakfast and lunch EVERY DAY.  Please encourage your child to take a breakfast as they arrive and/or sign up for lunch each day.  Obviously this is an option, but it’s nice to have extra food for a snack at the end of the day.
