Kim Cohn

Welcome to 7th grade English on the Elkhorn team.  I want to take a minute to introduce myself as your child’s 7th grade English teacher.  I know we’re going to have a wonderful year and I look forward to getting to know you and your child.

My name is Kim Cohn.  I have been teaching for 29 years…HOLY COW!! Although I’ve been at this quite a while, I seem to learn more about this job with each class that comes through my door.  I can tell you that my education has continued with each student that I have the privilege of “teaching”. I’m sure nothing will change this year!

I began my teaching career in a  little elementary school in eastern Montana. I taught out east for 10 years, grades 2 – 4, where the learning curve was quite steep. While there, I met my future husband (who was actually from Helena), and his son, Tommy.  After we married a year later, we chose to have two more children, Paige and Christian.

While the solitude in the east was peaceful, the mountains of western Montana were calling us.  We moved to Helena, to be with my husband’s mother, so I continued my love of teaching at CR Anderson Middle School.  While here, I have taught remedial math and reading, and am currently in my 7th year of teaching 7th grade English.

Seven years after moving to Helena, I had another child, Kaden.  He is a 7th grader at Helena Middle School and loves school, football, and of course, like most 13 year olds…video games. Having a child at an older age has kept my husband and me feeling young, as well as kept us connected to the younger generation.

Thank you for trusting me with your child’s education this year.  I will do everything in my power to make sure that s/he has the absolute BEST 7th grade year possible.  Please feel free to contact me at any time during the school year.
