Kara Nelson

Mrs. Nelson grew up in Bozeman, Montana and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, K-12 Broadfield, from Montana State University before completing her masters degree in flute performance at Washington State University.  She taught K-12 music and high school art in Denton, Montana before moving to Helena in 2011. She taught K-8 general music, band, choir, pops choir,  jazz band, and drama at Montana City School in Clancy, Montana from 2011 – 2021 and is is excited to begin teaching orchestra and choir at Helena Middle School in the fall of 2022!

When not teaching or reading Harry Potter for the 900th time, Kara and her husband Cody love to spend time cooking, hiking, hunting, and fishing with their three dogs, Percy, Fizzy, and Tinkerbell (aka Stinkerbell), and avoiding the ire of the cat, Harvey.
