Melissa Romano
I began my teaching career in 2004 within the Helena School District, where I have had the privilege of working with students across a range of grade levels. In 2018, I was honored to be named Montana Teacher of the Year, a distinction that allowed me to advocate for and represent the teaching profession statewide. Additionally, I am proud to be a recipient of the National Science Foundation’s Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), which recognized my contributions to education and my commitment to fostering student growth in mathematics and science.
I am excited to continue my journey at HMS, where I look forward to engaging and inspiring 8th-grade math students while fostering a positive and dynamic learning environment.
Catching up when you're absent
ZearnParentLetter
I’ll be using the ZEARN math platform this year as an additional support for students. If your child is absent, they can use ZEARN to stay caught up with lessons and practice the concepts we are learning in class. Students will be able to log in from home to complete their work, or they can use available class time or advisor time to access the program. This flexible option ensures that students don’t fall behind and can continue building their math skills at their own pace.
