Hi! This is my 11th year teaching at Helena High. I enjoy a good discussion and thinking about questions with no “right” answer. My goals for this school year are to give more positive feedback, focus on quality over quantity, and build relationships with my students. Like most English teachers, I love reading! I also like traveling (I’m an adviser for Travel Club), listening to literature podcasts, making unnecessary lists, and playing with my dog, Muldoon.

Weekly agendas
Grading Overview:
We use category weighting (summative assignments = 60%, formative assignments = 30%, practice assignments = 10%). The final is worth 10% of the overall semester grade.
ABSENT? – If students are absent, they should check the weekly agenda AND the appropriate Teams channel(s). If nothing has been posted for the day you were absent, send me a Teams chat!
Late work – The cutoff date for formative assignments is 3 week days from the assignment’s due date (Ex: assignment is due Tuesday, Friday is the cutoff date). The cutoff date for summative assignments is 5 week days from the assignment’s due date (Ex: assignment is due Tuesday, the following Tuesday is the cutoff date). After that, you will receive a zero whether you complete the assignment or not. No late practice work is accepted.
Electronics – Bring a charged laptop to class. No phones or earbuds without teacher permission.
Food – Drinks with lids are okay. No other food or drink can be out in the classroom.
