Missy Sampson
Missy Sampson has dedicated 32 years to teaching Biology I, Biology II, and Science Seminar at Helena High School. She is a proud graduate of Western Montana College with an undergraduate degree and earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Montana. Missy is passionate about teaching and believes in making a difference in her students’ lives every day. She is committed to providing a high-quality education, ensuring that her students develop skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Outside the classroom, Missy enjoys an active lifestyle that includes riding horses, team roping, hunting, fishing, hiking, working out, reading, and exploring the great outdoors on side-by-side adventures. She cherishes spending time with her family and friends. Her husband is a retired teacher, her son is a second-year 5th-grade teacher in Townsend, Montana, and her daughter is a senior at Montana Tech.

10/27-11/12
Monday: Further discussion on Ethics, Morals, and decision making
Tuesday: Discussion of “What are your ethics” Quiz. Each group will present their findings. Define morals, ethics, bioethics and moral dilemmas
Wednesday: Group scenario based group discussions: share out at the end of the period
Thursday: Why ethics matter in science: come up with a debatable topic regarding ethics/morals
Friday: research ethics through history: Each group will research an “ethical issue”, then we will rotate through these as stations.
Monday: Station rotation answering the questions:
- What happened?
- What ethical principles were violated?
- What changed as a result?
Tuesday: class discussion and assessment based on the cases.
Wednesday: Guest speaker: ACLU lawyer and lobbyist
Thursday: Assigned current issues where technology outpaces ethics.
- What is the scientific goal?
- Who benefits and who might be harmed?
- What are moral and ethical conflicts?
- How could society regulate or address it?
Friday: finish research
Monday: Debate? Roundtable discussion
