Hello!
Welcome to Helena High School. I am excited to be your math teacher this year! I am teaching one section of Calculus BC, two sections of Calculus AB, and two sections of Honors Precalculus. This website will have important information including a weekly agenda. I will post class materials to the Moodle page so check there for any videos, notes or assignments. Thank you.
I am looking forward to a great year. Go Bengals!
Mrs. Potuzak
Topics in this course will include: limits, continuity, differentiation techniques and applications, and integration techniques and applications.
Suggested Supplies:
Grading:
There are two categories that will make up your quarter grades.
Formative Assignments: 10%
This includes classwork, homework, bell ringers, exit tickets, etc.
Summative Assessments: 90%
This includes tests, quizzes, and projects.
Students may retake any summative assessments for full credit ONE TIME. Preparedness for the second, more rigorous, assessment will be at the teacher’s discretion and may include additional practice session(s) outside of class time. Re-takes must be taken outside of class and scheduled with the teacher and completed before the end of the semester. Re-take scores will replace the original test score.
Grading Scale: 90-100 = A, 80-89 = B, 70-79 = C, 60-69 = D, Below 60% = F
Semester grades will be made up of 40% from each quarter and 20% from a semester final.
For a more complete overview of the class, please see the Calc AB Syllabus.

Summative Assessments: 90%

Students may retake ONLY ONE summative assessment (chapter test) for full credit PER SEMESTER. The retake must be completed within three weeks from the date of the original test is entered in Power School. Preparedness for the retake will be at the teacher’s discretion, will include additional practice session(s) outside of class time, and will include the requirement that all class homework for the unit has been completed. Retakes must be taken outside of class and scheduled with the teacher. Retake scores will replace the original test score.
In addition to the opportunity of a retake, the student’s score on the Semester Test can replace the lowest unit test score of the semester. The replacement grade will be completed by the teacher but will not lower a student’s overall grade. The Semester Test will continue to count as their semester test score worth 20% of their semester grade.
